Enlightened Companies: IT and Business are Aligned

I found this quote from Informatica Cloud General Manager Juan Carlos Soto to be interesting:

“We deliberately went after the ease-of-use element because what we found is a lot of the earliest adoption for cloud computing in particular with the SaaS category is by the decision makers in companies that are typically in the lines of business as opposed to IT. Now, in the more enlightened companies, it’s a cooperation between the line of business and IT, but very often the lead decision making to adopt cloud is by the line of business.”

I thought I’d post a quick poll on this topic:

I just voted! Great idea, please share the results. I’m curious. I fully agree it should be a combination, but too often I notice it’s only business driven as well. It seems business users like to be part of the hype.

Gartner’s survey of last year (global, large, demographically weighted) indicated that cloud solution adoption was led by the business more than 50% of the time.
