Evaluating SaaS Applications

I published an interview today on the Informatica Perspectives blog which shares real-world experiences of purchasing and implementing cloud-based applications. As Stefan Reid from Forrester points out on his blog:

“The availability of a trust.platform.com page is the right thing to build trust into a utility computing grid. In my opinion, Informatica is absolutely following the right trend in this direction.”

Eric Johnson had this to say about how to evaluate the right SaaS application and the importance of trust in my interview:

“To me, it’s not that different than any vendor I work with, but when it comes to moving your business data to a cloud-based solution, it’s even more critical that you trust the vendor you’re working with. We always evaluate:
  • The financial viability of the vendor.
  • The vendor’s support model – if it’s a mission-critical process, 24/7 is a must.
  • The vendor’s track record of success – I don’t want to be a guinea pig.
  • The vendor’s track-record of innovation – how is the solution evolving?”

You can read the rest of the interview here.
