SaaS Integration Solution for On-Premises Data Integration Projects

I wrote a post last week on the Informatica Perspectives blog that has received a few comments and questions:  Cloud Data Integration: Not Just For Cloud-Based Data.  I was highlighting some of the use cases I’ve seen for an easy-to-use integration as as service solution, that don’t involve SaaS applications like, Workday, Netsuite, SuccessFactors, etc.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not trying to underestimate the data fragmentation problems that have resulted from widespread adoption of these cloud services and the importance of data integration to SaaS success. It’s a topic I’ve written about frequently on the In(tegrate) the Clouds blog. I simply wanted to provide a few details on the architecture of a cloud integration service and to remind you that the right cloud-based data integration solution should also be just as useful for point-to-point integration projects that only involve on-premises-based data sources and targets. (Note that I didn’t say “on-premise.”)

The Informatica Cloud post is based on a series of Cloud Breakfasts we’ve hosted over the last few weeks. Here’s a presentation that provides more details:

It’s a topic I’ll be writing more about in the coming weeks.
