Software Marketing Forecast: Mostly Cloudy

It’s a heat wave right now in Silicon Valley, but if you’re driving along the 101 you’ll notice that the billboards are mostly cloudy. Clearly software marketers are having a field day with cloud computing and the cliche possibilities. Here are a few:

  • Don’t get stuck in the clouds
  • Don’t bring down the cloud (with an applicance that is)
  • Connect the clouds
  • Shout it out cloud (really makes no sense)
  • Get off my cloud
  • Cloud 9
  • Head in the clouds?
  • Every silver lining has a cloud (also works the other way around)
  • A promise is a cloud, fulfillment is rain (wait, this doesn’t really work)
  • Behind every cloud, a little sun must shine. (Oracle could jump on this one.)
  • The brightest sunshine comes with a cloud.
  • A cloud cannot cast a shadow unless the sun is shining behind it.
  • The most interesting cloud in the world (uh, I actually didn’t think this video really worked)

And with the Salesforce.com Dreamforce conference just around the corner, why do I have a feeling that we’re just getting started…
